MSNBC Morning Joe gabber Willie Geist made a gaffe big enough to make co-host Mika Brzezinski cringe on-air this morning, after he alleged Miss Puerto Rico Ingrid Marie Rivera may be lying about her gown having been pepper-sprayed during a recent pageant competition. Problem was, Brzezinski was scheduled to interview Rivera on her own program live on-air within minutes. Geist seemed genuinely surprised after Brzezinski’s harsh reaction, and he quickly backtracked, saying that no one believes those rumors anyway.

With MSNBC trying desperately to land Rosie O’Donnell for its 9 p.m. slot, that spot’s current owner Dan Abrams may soon find himself looking for a new job. Quite the a turn of events for former Court TV anchor, considering that he not only recently gave up a cushy general managing position at the network to go back on-air, he also didn’t know the network had been courting O’Donnell for his slot until he read it in today’s NY Times, like everyone else.

Jossip is reporting that Abrams “flipped out” this morning after reading the news.
